Investigation of genetic diversity and factor analysis for some morphological traits in pistachio genotypes

Abstract

The present study was conducted from 2016 to 2016 to evaluate the characteristics of seven selected pistachio genotypes in traditional orchards of Qazvin based on morphological parameters. Genotype traits were evaluated according to the National Guidelines for Differentiation, Uniformity and Stability Tests (DUS), using the international union for the protection of new varieties of plants (UPOV). Some of the most important traits evaluated included fruit cluster length, current branch growth length, number of leaflets, split nuts percentage, Blank nut percentage and dry kernel weight. In factor analysis, 34 studied traits obtained six new variables (6 factors) that showed a total of 100% changes. The first two components accounted for more than 50% of the changes. Factor coefficients in factor analysis by principal component method and varimax period in the studied genotypes showed the first factor had higher correlation with the number of leaflets, dry weight of split nuts, number of fruits per cluster, fresh weight of green skin, nut dry per cluster, percentage of blank nuts per cluster and ratio of dry weight to fresh weight of fruit. The second factor also explained the length of the dried fruit, the dry weight of the kernel, the length of the kernel and the width of the kernel, tree width, the height of the tree and the length of the terminal leaflet. The results showed that Shamshiri cultivar was in a separate group and showed the greatest difference with other genotypes, especially Baghali. The genotyped Baghali, Madari and Kalehbozi were most similar.
